27/06/08 Handsworth A (7) vs (6) Warwick A by Jonathan Fleet
Another difficult away game this time at Handsworth, and Warwick were short of a few players. The game started well with goals from Scott Haystead and Matt Wardle.
Warwick continued to control the game, but despite forcing 2 exclusions could not convert their dominance into more goals, and Handsworth scored with 30 seconds to go.
From the restart matt Wardle scored for Warwick, however with 1 second of the quarter left Warwick conceded again. The second quarter saw more Warwick pressure, another Handsworth exclusion, but no goals until Handsworth equalized. Warwick won a penalty after the restart, scored by Wardle, but again Warwick let in another Handsworth goal leaving the game 4-4 at the half time.
In the third quarter Scott Haystead scored after a minute, and the game continued to be hard fought from end to end, but neither side managed to score again.
Leading by a single goal going into the final quarter Warwick needed to continue to control the game and their own possession, however poor passing and a continual inability to convert the exclusions won were problems Warwick were making for themselves. Lapses in defence let Handsworth score two goals and go in front. With two minutes to go Adrian Challinor made space on a break and reached up well to take a pass and score to level the game. Handsworth came back and scored again with 50 seconds to go .Warwick failed to score from the restart, and conceded possession, Handsworth attacked again, and Warwick regained the ball, coach Jonathan Fleet called a time out with 7 seconds to go. Warwick pressed up in attack in a desperate bid to find a goal to level the game, but could not manage a decent shot on goal before the whistle blew, leaving Handsworth the victors 7-6.
