11/03/09 - Newport A (10) vs Warwick B (5) by Jonathan Fleet
The B side had a long trip on Wednesday night to Newport in Shropshire. A good turnout of 9 players for the long drive was encouraging.
Newport opened the scoring and a minute later Pete Nield replied for Warwick. Warwick conceded a couple of exclusions and were punished eventually and the quarter ended 2-1 to Newport.
Warwick continued to give away majors, and Pete Neild conceded a penalty, which was saved by James Spencer, but Newport scored after a loose pass. Jonathan Fleet pulled one back for Warwick, but Newport scored again after the restart. Warwick eventually worked an exclusion of their own and Gordon Young scored to leave the game very close at 4-3 going into the second half.
Warwick got caught on the break 3 times in the 3rd quarter and were suddenly 7-3 down, and then conceded another penalty, again saved this time by Simon Davies. Jonathan Fleet pulled one back, but Newport scored again at the end of the quarter.
Warwick played better in the final quarter but a solitary goal from Fleet was not enough to turn the game around, and the final score was 10-5 to Newport.
