The British Gas men’s Water Polo team have enjoyed success in a Water Polo tournament hosted by the Polish Federation of Water Polo.

Having just come back from Istanbul as tournament victors, the boys were set for another competitive tournament in Poland. The British Gas team faced up to both Poland, who will feature as a European B competitor, and Kazakhstan.

The British Gas team of 14 were missing various senior players which gave the younger players a chance to step up in the matches.

The first match against Kazakhstan saw the Brits lead after nine minutes 5 – 0. However, they were faced with a tough fight back from the Kazakhstan team and the match ended 9 -7 to the Kazakhstan players.

The British Gas team picked themselves up and won their next match against Poland convincingly 12 – 7. Going into the next day the Brits were brimming with confidence and beat Poland again 10 – 8.

The final match was against Kazakhstan and the players knew that they couldn’t be complacent and although they were missing Scott Carpenter they went to win 9 – 7.

The British Gas team finished the tournament in joint first place with Kazakhstan only missing out on the tournament title by goal difference
